Farm My School elective student, Flynn, has been busy releasing ladybirds across our Colac farm.
This is an important part of natural pest management, regenerative farming and its practices.
Instead of relying on chemicals, ladybirds help keep aphid populations under control, supporting healthy crops and thriving ecosystems.
A single ladybird eats thousands of aphids and mites during its lifetime.
This process stops the use of harsh synthetic pesticides that harm good bugs, soil microbes, and nearby water. It adds to a living, complex food web where different species keep each other in balance.
This practice restores ecological balance, protects local biodiversity, and keeps both the soil and crops pesticide-free.
It's hands-on learning with real impact, where students discover that even the smallest creatures play a big role in growing healthy food.

Farm My School Elective is a hands-on, Year 10 agriculture and horticulture program. It connects students with experienced farmers to learn about permaculture, regenerative farming, soil health, and sustainable food systems on campus.
