INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF THE WOMAN FARMER
👩🏼🌾 2026 is International Year of the Woman Farmer.
At Farm My School, we proudly support and encourage women interested in farming with various offerings, such as:
👩🏼🌾 School-based traineeships
👩🏼🌾 On-farm employment
👩🏼🌾 Volunteer opportunities
Two of our farmers are women – Caitie is our Regenerative Farm Manager at Farm My School Colac and kicking goals, and Charlee is a Farm Hand who leads the delivery of the veggie boxes at Farm My School Bellarine. Both are extraordinary young women who are thriving in the industry and positioning themselves as role models for the next generation.
"I am driven by our collective need to increase resilience across Country, community and culture and came to work in horticulture for the tangible benefits I can be a part of in these ecosystems through this work," says Caitie.
“I pursued a horticulture traineeship to learn more about where our food comes from and the differences between organic and conventional growing practices," says Charlee.
"It also lets me combine my creative side in art with garden design, plus I love getting my hands dirty. Completing my traineeship has given me practical skills, confidence, and formal qualifications to build a career in horticulture.”
Both women are excelling in their positions, and anytime you see them at one of our farms be sure to stop, say hello and guarantee you they'll share their extensive farming knowledge with you.
