Plantfulness is an organisation that supports charities and community programs by contributing equipment, time, and human resources to bring people together in meaningful, hands-on ways. They've partnered with Farm My School since the beginning, and kindly donated an array of tools, farming equipment and time to help grow our impact.
Recently Plantfulness Charity Manager, Bonnie Hook, answered a few questions around their partnership with Farm My School and the organisation's mission.
FMS: Tell us about your organisation and what you do?
BH: Plantfulness is about gardening for good. We believe that getting people out into nature and putting their hands in the soil, can improve mental and physical health and wellbeing. In lieu of donating a corporate volunteering fee we donate $800rrp of tools to partner organisations for them to keep, and we send out our volunteers for a session of hard work!
FMS: How is your organisation partnering or supporting Farm My School?
BH: Plantfulness is proud to support Farm My School by aligning our shared mission of reconnecting people with food, nature, and wellbeing through gardening. We contribute through advocacy, community engagement, and program support—helping amplify the impact of school-based food education and encouraging more families and communities to get involved.
FMS: Why is supporting Farm My School important to you and your organisation?
BH: Supporting Farm My School is a natural fit for Plantfulness. We believe that meaningful change starts early, and giving children the opportunity to grow, harvest, and understand fresh food is incredibly powerful. It not only supports healthier eating habits but also builds confidence, curiosity, and a deeper respect for the environment.
FMS: What impact do you hope to see from your involvement with Farm My School?
BH: We hope to see more schools transformed into thriving, food-growing environments where children are actively engaged in the journey from seed to plate. Ultimately, we want to see stronger connections between food, health, and community—leading to improved wellbeing outcomes for children and families.
FMS: Would you encourage other organisations to get involved? Why?
BH: Absolutely. Farm My School is creating real, tangible changes at a grassroots level. It’s a unique opportunity for organisations to contribute to something meaningful—supporting children’s health, education, and environmental awareness all at once. The impact is immediate, visible, and long-lasting. The passion and enthusiasm of James and his team is so infectious, it makes you feel like you can do and take on anything with the power of a seed being sown!
FMS: What would you like to see Farm My School achieve in the next five years?
BH: In the next five years, we would love to see Farm My School expand into more schools and communities, becoming a recognised and valued part of the education system. We envision a future where every child has access to hands-on food education, helping to shape a healthier, more connected generation. To still be going would also be such an incredible feat and testament to the world we live in and funding limitations.
