Farm My School: Transforming Learning Outcomes

Farm My School Hands-on Learning

School farms are transforming learning outcomes.

🌱 They are more than patches of earth
🌱 They are living classrooms
🌱 They are vibrant educational spaces
🌱 They are dynamic environments

Students are witnessing plant life cycles, being taught about soil health, water conservation, composting, germination, photosynthesis, biodiversity, sustainable practices, food systems, nutrition, environmental care and more.

From planting seeds and harvesting seasonal produce to learning about soil health, composting, biodiversity and nutrition, students are gaining practical knowledge while building confidence, connection and curiosity. Farm My School creates opportunities for hands-on learning that supports science, health, environmental studies and personal development in meaningful and engaging ways.

Importantly, students are not just learning where food comes from – they are understanding the systems behind it. They see the time, care and collaboration required to grow healthy food while developing a deeper respect for farmers, land and community.

Farm My School also provides inclusive learning experiences that support different learning styles. For many students, being outdoors and actively involved helps improve engagement, wellbeing and social connection.

Some of the skills students are developing from the program include patience, empathy, self-confidence, critical thinking, problem-solving, resilience, teamwork, communications, creative thinking and more.

As the programs continue to grow, Farm My School is cultivating the minds of students and future generations, and connecting them with food, community and the environment.
