Six months ago something remarkable happened in Colac!
Over 700 community members, volunteers, partners and supporters gathered to Build a Farm in a Day, Colac and in 24 hours we did exactly that.
Farm My School Colac was built, and today it is a thriving space that is growing fresh, seasonal produce, educating and engaging students and community members and encouraging weekly volunteers.

The Build That Grew was a free community event to celebrate this milestone, and an opportunity for people to return to the farm and see firsthand the growth, progress and impact it has had.
"The farm is clearly embedded in the Colac community," said Farm My School CEO and co-founder, James McLennan. "Thanks to everyone who is invested and supporting it – it is thriving!"
"Farm My School Colac has transformed our school grounds and created a last legacy for our community," said Colac Secondary College Principal Skye Bannan.
The students rose to the moment and:
Lead farm tours
Played music
Shared homemade soup
Performed dance routines
Served dip and crudités
Entered cooking competitions
Planted trees
And more.

It was a moment to feel immense pride. The project has been a success due to a collaborative approach, tireless teamwork and ongoing support.
The farm is more than a farm – it's a space to:
Bring community together
Learn outside of the classroom
Improve mental and physical wellbeing
Be healthy, inquisitive and creative
Settle your nervous system
Contribute to something meaningful
